The Clarence Lange Memorial Organ

Clarence Lange died in 2012, having lived 100 very productive and graceful years in this world. He left a large bequest to St Mark's, a portion of which was used as seed money to stimulate a parish financial campaign during the summer of 2013 to rescue the remainder of an historic pipe organ, and fund a massive rebuild of the little 1949 Keates organ that had served the parish faithfully and well, including during the time that Clarence was choirmaster of St Mark's. From 4.5 ranks and 300 pipes, the Memorial Organ has grown to 24 ranks and over 1500 pipes-- all four colours of pipe organ (diapason, flute, string, reed) sound at various pitches throughout the instrument. The new St Mark's pipe organ contains the remaining half of the distinguished 1919 Casavant organ (nearly trashed) that served the former Knox United Church in Owen Sound, as well as all of the original Keates instrument, and three ranks of pipes, mechanisms, and the Wicks console shell from a pipe organ in a private home in Athens, Ontario.
