Fr Ed Wagner, Pastor fatherwagner@aol.com
Fr Ed came to St Mark's in February of 2009. This is his second Lutheran pastorate after his retirement from the Anglican Diocese of Huron; St Mark's has to be at least all-but-unique in having as its leader an Anglican priest called "Father," although that was the title the congregation chose from the beginning! Fr Ed has enjoyed a rich and diverse ministry-- Presbyterian, Episcopal (US) and Lutheran pastor, hospital chaplain in partnership with his wife, Dr Angela Schmidt, professional church musician, pastoral counsellor, and parent-at-home. After almost 30 years in New England and following the death of his first wife, Daphne Ross, he returned to his native Owen Sound, Ontario. Fr Ed took his Honours BA and MA in English Literature at the University of Waterloo, his MDiv and Institute of Sacred Music diploma at Yale University in Connecticut, and has an MA in pastoral counselling from St Joseph's College in West Hartford, Connecticut. He is also a certified intentional interim pastor, trained through the Interim Ministry Network in Baltimore, Maryland. When he came to St Mark's, Fr Ed thought that his ministry here would be a short one-- now, he says, "I'm home, and blessed every day by this wonderful congregation! I couldn't imagine being anywhere else!" Fr Ed and Angela live at Grace House, their place near Holland Centre, the parents of Graeme, Ben, Will, Joe and Abby-- as well as humble servants to Tigger, Topher, Shelby, and Madeline, their three cats and dog.
