Ted Filsinger, Organist tedfil@eastlink.ca
A disciple of the late Herman Maes, the legendary Ayton, Ontario, church musician, educator and farmer, Ted recently completed 35 years as organist of his home church, St Peter's Lutheran ELCIC in the village of Neustadt, Ontario. While there, he encouraged his congregation to repair their 1930 Woodstock pipe organ. During his ministry at St Peter's, Ted developed and maintained a wind band of local teenagers who for years played especially for festival services. Ted also serves the community as a dedicated and experienced Big Brother. He now ministers here at St Mark's as the first "titulaire" to preside at our grand pipe organ. Ted is thrilled with the new instrument, five times the size of the organ he played in Neustadt. "It's a whole new world of sound," he says. "and it's so inspiring! I'm getting out music I haven't been able to play since my student days with Herman and Doug Haas (music director at St Andrew's Presbyterian, Kitchener), and I'm practising up a storm!"
